Red Amano Shrimp
Red Amano Shrimp are a unique color variation of the well-known Amano shrimp, valued for their algae-eating ability and active behavior. With their subtle red or rust-toned coloration, they add a different look compared to standard Amanos while still providing the same hardworking benefits.
These shrimp are peaceful, hardy, and do well in community aquariums. They are excellent cleaners, constantly grazing on algae, biofilm, and leftover food, helping keep your tank clean and balanced. Their larger size compared to Neocaridina also makes them more visible and active in the aquarium.
Red Amano shrimp thrive in stable water conditions and adapt well to a variety of setups. They do best in planted tanks where they have plenty of surfaces to graze on and places to explore.
While they can breed in captivity, their larvae require brackish water to survive, so they will not typically overpopulate in freshwater aquariums.
If you're looking for a hardy, active shrimp that helps control algae while adding a unique look to your tank, Red Amano shrimp are a reliable and practical choice.
